How to Press Your DTF Transfers
For the best results, we recommend a three-step method:
-
Pre-Press – Give your garment a quick press before applying the transfer. This removes any moisture and flattens the fabric. It’s especially helpful on heavy hoodies or canvas bags so the design adheres better.
-
First Press – Apply the transfer and peel off the carrier sheet.
-
Second Press – Press again using a finishing sheet (like Teflon or parchment). This helps remove unwanted shine and lets a little of the garment’s texture show through, giving the design a softer, more natural look.
| Fabric Type | Temp (°F) | Pressure | Time (sec) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cotton | 320°F | Heavy | 15 sec | First press: peel carrier. Second press: finish with sheet. |
| Polyester | 260–280°F | Heavy | 6–10 sec | Same two-step method, lower temp protects fabric. |
Carrier Sheet Tips:
-
Can be peeled hot or cold.
-
We recommend a cold peel for fine details or if you’re just getting started.
Friendly Heads-Up 😊
-
Always test on a fabric you don’t mind risking before running production. This ensures you get the look and feel you want.
-
These settings are what work best for us, but every press, fabric, and setup can be different. Feel free to tweak things—use whatever settings give you the best results.
